abdomen and allowed a specimen of the spleen and liver to be taken. The results came back from the pathologist in a few days with the dreaded "C" word …Cancer.
Nettie had Lymphosarcoma, but it had not spread to her abdominal organs yet. The prognosis was still very guarded but today at least something can be done.
Nettie's owner elected to have us treat her with chemotherapeutic agents and the results were dramatic. Within weeks, the old familiar tail wag was back and the lumps gone.
Weekly trips to the hospital were fun times for her. There was no vomiting, hair-loss, or other side-effects, just playtime with her friends. The I V catheter and bag of cancer fighting drugs dripping into her did not effect her attitude. Life was fun again.
Six months after the initial diagnosis there was still no sign of the cancer and all treatment was stopped. This last February was a year since the diagnosis and Nettie was still clear.
