Diagnostic Testing allows us to develop a definitive diagnosis in the most precise and efficient manner.  This enables us to provide the best medical care to our patients and present the clearest information to our clients. Here are some of the services we offer:

Blood Pressure Monitoring

This is important in determining if pets have high blood pressure.  Blood pressure is also an integral part of our anesthetic monitoring and in diagnosing other problems in dogs and cats.

Cardiac Consultations

Dr. Keith Strickland, Diplomate, ACVIM (Cardiology) visits our practice each week to examine and consult on our cardiac cases.  He provides expert information and diagnostics and is available for additional consultations as needed.

Digital Radiology (X-Rays)

X-Rays play an important role in diagnosing many common conditions.  Our state-of-the-art Digital Radiology unit allows us to take radiographs and interpret them in a short amount of time.  In addition, we can send these images digitally to a Veterinary Specialist for interpretation as needed.

Electrocardiogram (EKG)

An EKG measures the electrical activity of the heart and can be essential in properly diagnosing many different heart problems.  EKG’s are also useful in general health screenings, particularly in our senior patients and those having anesthetic procedures.

Endoscopy

Using our endoscope we can often avoid major surgeries.  Using a lighted tube equipped with a camera, we can visualize many areas and even take samples for biopsies if needed.  Our endoscope can also be used to remove or dislodge foreign material that has been ingested by pets.  These procedures are minimally invasive but typically do require general anesthesia.

In House Laboratory

Having a complete laboratory in our hospital allows us to get quick results and start treating patients as soon as possible.   We are able to complete blood chemistries, urine testing, fecal/parasite examination and much more.  We also maintain good relationships with outside laboratories should more in-depth testing be required.

Ultrasound/Echocardiograms

We use ultrasound as a painless, non-invasive way to visualize the internal organs and assess their shape, size and structure.   Abdominal Ultrasounds are often performed to examine the kidneys, liver, spleen and other organs.  Ultrasound can also help us discover tumors and masses in the abdomen.

Echocardiograms allow us to view and measure the heart and major cardiac vessels.  It also allows us to determine how well the heart is functioning by examining the cardiac valves and muscles.
