Radiology

Radiology (X-ray) is one of the most useful diagnostic tools available to the veterinarian. It is often used to aid in the diagnosis of orthopedic problems including fractures, hip dysplasia, as well as arthritic changes in bones and joints. Radiology also allows the veterinary staff to view areas of the heart, lungs and abdomen. This is useful in the diagnosis of heart disease, bladder stones, abnormal organ structure and more.

Metairie Small Animal Hospital is outfitted with the latest in radiographic equipment, allowing us to produce quality radiographs within minutes. In addition, advanced radiographic studies can be completed including myelograms, which aid in the diagnosis of spinal problems, and complete barium series which lead to the detection of foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract as well as anatomic problems within the esophagus, stomach and upper and lower GI tract.
