Dr. Wegmann grew up in Minnesota and moved to New Orleans in 1984. She is a Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Lauda from North Carolina State University with a BS in Zoology. She graduated at the top of her class from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and has enjoyed working at MSAH ever since.

She has a special interest in ultrasound, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. She is married to Randy Wegmann, an equine veterinarian, and has a daughter Avery. The entire family participates in showing horses in the hunter/jumper sport. She has a mixed-breed dog, Jackman, and a cat named Truffle that completes their family. They live on 18 beautiful acres where they run a boarding/training facility named Tavia Equine Center.
