Dr. Mayer is a New Orleans native who received his B.A. in biology from the University of New Orleans in 1978 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from LSU in 1983.

While he takes a special interest in general surgery, orthopedics, and laser oncology surgery, he enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine. Dr. Mayer is a member of the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Along with his wife Lisa and five daughters (Rachael, Caroline, Megan, Kristin and Simone). He also cherishes his time spent with his nine grandchildren. Dr. Mayer’s household includes an assortment of birds, fish, turtles, cats and dogs.  He enjoys sports activities with his children and has a passion for “anything outdoors”.
